No question at all, the author is Paul (identified in the first word of the letter which was the custom of that day) and I love the next five words of verse 1 because Paul says this letter (and he as a person) is under the authority of Jesus Christ. Is that you? I just want you to know today that if you are in rebellion against Jesus, if you let your heart resist and defy Him, you are also rebelling against yourself. Why obey God? 1) He’s always been proven to be right! 2) His understanding is perfect! 3) I think on a “me” level, He thinks on an “everything” level! 4) He loves each of us with a perfect love and will take us down the right path. Indications are that this letter was written within a year of 1 Corinthians. Many scholars agree and accept that his letter was written from Macedonia around 55-56 AD.  He had met up with Titus, coming from Corinth, with news of the church and what of his earlier letter.

Paul’s first letter (or what we call his first letter – there were as many as four) had been met with acceptance for the most part but as we go through 2 Corinthians it will become evident that Paul was addressing certain men in Corinth with his second letter that were not attacking the theology or even the instruction but rather attacking Paul personally. (You’ll see that this letter, somewhat unlike the first one, is littered with personal comments by Paul). Paul will speak of comfort…because he is needing it and receiving it from the Lord. Taking from context what some of the dissenters were spreading, “How can a man that goes through so much hardship and rejection be blessed of God? This man cannot even speak well. He wasn’t one of the original disciples of Jesus, in fact he was an enemy of our Lord. How can you trust him, accept him…let alone submit to him!?” So, Paul pens this second letter and he begins with his apostolic authority.

2 Corinthians Chapter 1 Verse 1

• I like this, Paul states his credentials. He could have said, “Extremely educated star student of the infamous Gamaliel! Pure blooded Benjamite with papers from Peter and John as the lead of all gentile churches!” But he doesn’t. All he says is, “Paul, messenger of Jesus Christ…by God’s will.” Why? Because God’s will outweighs it all.
• Think about amazing things you can do because of your capabilities, abilities, education and experience! All that you can accomplish and achieve and now stack that up against what God can do in your life. No comparison is there! Paul’s greatest qualification was that he was who he was because that’s what God wanted with him.
• And there’s a bit of an under-current message here as well. Church in Corinth…many that don’t like me…may I please remind you…its not me necessarily who wants to be your messenger in the first place! HA!
• And so, he writes to the “church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints…” Even in the midst of all of their issues, shortcomings and even personal problems with Paul himself, I love this, church we so need to do this, Paul is a man who chooses to see the good in them and their situation. Anyone can see the bad…our nature lights it up brighter than some of y’alls Christmas trees that are still up (you need to take them down, HA!), but it is the Spirit that chooses to see what is pure. It is the Spirit that overcomes the issue and finds kindness.
• Philippians 4:8-9, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”

2 Corinthians Chapter 1 Verse 2

• The common (inclusive “charis” and “shalom”) greeting of Paul and truly the promise of God in the heart and life of anyone devoted to Him, “grace and then peace.” I’ve always taught that grace must be received before peace is enjoyed…and that is quite true…but there is one step that even comes before grace and that is verse 1…the receiving of Jesus Christ.
• God’s grace is for you. God’s love is upon you. All of the promises of God are gifted…given to you and to me. But all of that comes in the receiving of Jesus Christ. If you have not received Jesus Christ then although the grace of God has your name on it, the heart of God is filled with love for you, you have yet to receive any of it…because it is as Jesus said in John 14:6, “No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
• There is also an element of pure peace when you are as Paul could say in verse 1…simply in the will of God. Being outside of the will of God will cost you

2 Corinthians Chapter 1 Verse 3

• Bruh, just want you to know, God OWNS comfort. He is the God of all comfort. We look to money, drugs, drink, dependence on others, even religion for comfort…that’s just as good as vapor. Here one second, gone the next…but a life lived walking with Jesus, that’s where comfort is found because He’s got the goods!
• And even more, one layer down and deeper, I want you to know today also, Comfort is a Person. The word here for comfort is Jesus said in John 14:16-18, “I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Parakletos), that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”
• The comfort of God, Comfort Himself, is indeed the powerful presence and leading of the Holy Spirit in your life. Are you in need of comfort? Listen, comfort is not entirely something that God pours out through a heavenly hug (although He may). I want you to know today that to be comforted in a trial or tough time, that is not only a prayer but a result of walking in the Spirit of God. Following His lead before the trial ever came.
• John 14:15, before Jesus even revealed the Person of the Comforter, He said this, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” Why? Because walking in the Spirit…that is where the comfort is birthed and that is where it emanates from when the trial is upon you…not the need for a holy hug…but the solidity of being firm in faith! You’ve walked with God, you’ve followed His lead, you’ve trusted Him day after day after day and then when the day darkens, muscle memory man…comfort is upon YOU! BUT BUT BUT…Paul reveals next perhaps the most unpopular explanation ever but one that is critical to understand as to why God allows suffering in the first place…

2 Corinthians Chapter 1 Verses 4 – 7

• Many ask God, “Why?” Honestly, we all do. Everyone of us. Why this God, why now, why me? It could be and probably is, that what you’re going through is perhaps not about you only, primarily, or really at all…but it is about equipping you to serve someone else.
• Do you ever find a product or a service that is just so fantastic that you have to share it? Apple cider vinegar…what am I talking about!? That stuff is HORRIBLE! I mean great for you physically but I will NEVER drink that devil juice again! HA!! But like a good mechanic or an amazing restaurant…an amazing doctor or a life-changing soul-blessing cup of coffee like you get at Legends?! To an extremely lesser degree, this is a point I want to make about how God comforts His children.
• Trials are hard…hard isn’t the word…they’re real and they’re so difficult…the sufferings of Christ Paul says…not the cross but the pains of just life on fallen planet earth…as they abound Paul also says that the consolation of God through Jesus Christ also abounds. The word means exceeds measure…overflows…waterfalls… and the job that God will and can and wants to do in terms of loving, caring for you, providing for you, securing you and comforting you, with just enough faith for today (because that is all that’s asked or required), you will glorify God in it even if He never brings you out of it…and that glory upon God will bless and serve others.
• Paul says even though you’ve hurt me, even though Ephesus hurt me, basically everywhere I go it seemingly turns terrible, the comfort and consolation I receive from my walk with the Lord overwhelms it all and Paul’s heart rejoices. Why God? Here’s the answer, this is why…that you might know His love for you a little better…you don’t come to the well unless you’re thirsty, you don’t rest unless you’re tired, you don’t many times pray until you’re afraid or worried (I’m too often guilty of that)…
• Jesus knows first-hand, God understands first hand that at the end of self comes the victory…and the trial, the hardship, the affliction…will if navigated in faith…will cause the glory of God upon this earth to abound. This earth so needs God’s presence…the cross of Christ stood out entirely foreign to the natural man…and yet the shockwave reached unto all eternity…so too the trial you may be in today…if you will trust God in it.

Sin hacer preguntas, el autor es Pablo (quien se identifica en la primera palabra de esta carta, como era costumbre) y me encantan las siguientes 5 palabras del Verso número 1, esta carta está bajo la autoridad de Cristo Jesús.  Y yo te pregunto, tu, ¿lo estás? Solo deseo decirte hoy que, si te encuentras en rebeldía en contra de Jesús, y le permites a tu corazón que lo resista y lo desafíe estas también en rebeldía en contra de ti mismo. ¿Porque obedecer a Dios? 1) Él siempre ha comprobado que El estar en lo correcto! 2) Su entendimiento es perfecto! 3)Yo pienso a un nivel de “mi mismo”, El piensa en un nivel de “todo” 4) El ama a todos y cada uno de nosotros con un Amor perfecto y nos lleva por el camino correcto. Hay indicaciones que esta carta fue escrita a través de un periodo de un ano durante 1ra de Corintios. Muchos eruditos están de acuerdo y aceptan que esta carta fue escrita desde Macedonia al rededor del año 55-56 AD. Él se había encontrado con Tito, viniendo de Corinto, con noticias de la Iglesia y acerca de su previa carta.

La Primera carta de Pablo (o a lo que le llamamos su Primera carta- había hasta cuatro cartas) había sido aceptada por la mayor parte, pero conforme nos movemos hacia 2da de Corintios es evidente que Pablo está confrontando específicamente a ciertos hombres en Corinto en su segunda carta donde no estaban atacando la teología de Pablo o ni siquiera su instrucción, sino que lo estaban atacando a él personalmente. (Se darán cuenta que, en esta carta, de alguna manera y no como la primera carta, esta está llena de comentarios personales de parte de Pablo). Pablo hablara de Consuelo… porque él está en necesidad de eso, y lo estaba recibiendo de parte de Dios. (Historia de mi hijo Lincon)

Tomando en contexto de lo que algunos inconformistas están regando, o divulgando “Como es posible que un hombre que pasa por tantos sufrimientos y rechazo puede ser bendecido por Dios? Este hombre ni siquiera se expresa bien. EL ni siquiera fue uno de los discípulos originarios de Jesús, de hecho, era un enemigo de nuestro Dios. ¿¡Como es posible que puedan confiar en él, aceptarlo… y a un más someterse a él!?” De manera que, Pablo le hecha pluma a esta segunda carta y comienza con su autoridad apostólica.

2 Corintios Capitulo 1 Verso 1

• Me gusta que, Pablo declara sus credenciales. Él pudo haber dicho “ Extremadamente educado estudiante Estrella de la famosa Gamaliel! ¡Sangre Pura Benjamita con papeles de Pedro y Juan como líderes de todas las Iglesias gentiles!” Pero no lo hace. Todo lo que el dice es, “Pablo, mensajero de Cristo…por la voluntad de Dios.” ¿Por qué? Porque la voluntad de Dios pesa más que todo.
• ¡Piensa en las cosas maravillosas que podrías hacer con tus capacidades, habilidades, educación y experiencia! Todo eso que puedes lograr y alcanzar, ahora colócalo a lado en contra de lo que Dios puede hacer en tu vida. No hay comparación ahí. Las más grandes cualidades de Pablo eran que el era quien era porque eso era lo que Dios quería que el fuera.
• Y hay un poco de mensaje escondido aquí también. ¡Iglesia de Corinto… a muchos que no soy de su agrado… Permítanme recordarles… no es necesariamente yo quien quiere ser su mensajero desde un principio! JA!
• así que, el escribe a la “iglesia de Dios que está en Corinto, con todos los santos…” Aun en medio de todos los problemas, caídas, y problemas personales con Pablo mismo, esto me encanta, Iglesia necesitamos hacer esto, Pablo es un hombre que elige ver lo Bueno en ellos en su situación. Cualquiera puede ver lo malo…nuestra naturaleza lo abrillanta a un más que cualquiera de sus arbolitos de Navidad que todavía lo tienen puesto. (¡ya necesitan quitarlo, JA!), Pero es el espíritu quien elige ver lo que es puro. Es el espíritu que supera el problema y encuentra benignidad.
• Filipenses 4:8-9, Por lo demás, hermanos, todo lo que es verdadero, todo lo honesto, todo lo justo, todo lo puro, todo lo amable, todo lo que es de buen nombre; si hay virtud alguna, si algo digno de alabanza, en esto pensad. Lo que aprendisteis y recibisteis y oísteis y visteis en mí, esto haced; y el Dios de paz estará con vosotros.

2 Corintios Capitulo 1 Verso 2

• Lo común (incluyendo “ Charis” y “shalom”) saludo de Pablo y verdaderamente la promesa de Dios en el corazón y la vida de todo aquel que esta devotado a El, “ gracia y después paz.” Yo siempre ensene que su gracia debía ser recibida antes de poder disfrutar paz… y eso es verdad…pero hay un paso más aun que viene antes de gracia y ese es verso 1…recibir a Cristo Jesús.
• La gracia de Dios es para ti. El amor de Dios está sobre ti. Todas las promesas de Dios son un regalo… entregadas a ti y a mí. Pero todo lo que incluye en recibir a Cristo Jesús. Si tu aun no has recibido a Cristo Jesús entonces a pesar de que la gracia de Dios tiene tu nombre en ella, el corazón de Dios está lleno de Amor por ti, y tu no has recibido nada de ello… porque como Jesús dijo en Juan 14:6 “Nadie viene al Padre si no es a través de Mi.”
• también hay un elemento ahí de Paz Pura cuando estas como Pablo podría decir en el verso 1… simplemente en la voluntad de Dios. Estar fuera de la Voluntad de Dios te costara Su paz.

2 Corintios Capitulo 1 Verso 3

• Hermano, solo quiero que sepas, que Dios es dueño del Consuelo. El es el Dios de todo Consuelo. Volteamos a ver el dinero, las Drogas, la bebida, la dependencia en otros, aun buscamos Consuelo en la religión… y eso es tan solo bueno como el vapor. ¡Un Segundo lo tenemos y en el siguiente ya no existe… pero la vida que se vive con Jesús ahí es donde se encuentra el Consuelo porque Él tiene las cosas buenas!
• Y aun más, una capa más en profundidad, quiero que sepas también hoy, El Consuelo es una persona. La palabra Consuelo aquí es paraklesis. Jesús dijo en Juan 14:16-18, “Y yo rogaré al Padre, y os dará otro Consolador, (Parakletos) para que esté con vosotros para siempre: el Espíritu de verdad, al cual el mundo no puede recibir, porque no le ve, ni le conoce; pero vosotros le conocéis, porque mora con vosotros, y estará en vosotros. No os dejaré huérfanos; vendré a vosotros”.
• El Consuelo de Dios, El Consuelo mismo, es verdaderamente la presencia poderosa y la guía del espíritu Santo en tu vida. ¿Estas necesitado de Consuelo? Escucha, Consuelo no es enteramente algo que Dios derrama a través de un abrazo celestial. (quizás quiera El hacerlo). Quiero que sepas hoy que para ser consolado durante una tribulación o en tiempo de dificultad, no es únicamente una oración, pero un resultado de caminar en el espíritu de Dios. Siguiendo Su guía antes de que llegara la tribulación.
• Juan 14:15, antes de que Jesús revelara la Persona del Consolador, Él dijo esto, “ Si me amas, cumple mis mandamientos.” ¿Por qué? Porque caminando en el espíritu… ahí es donde el Consuelo es nacido, y ahí es de donde mana, cuando la tribulación esta sobre ti…no es la necesidad de un abrazo celestial…pero la solidez de estar firme en Fe! Has caminado con Dios, has seguido Su guía, has confiado en El día tras día y entonces cuando el día oscurece, hombre/mujer musculoso (a) de memoria… El Consuelo esta sobre TI. Pero, pero, pero… Pablo revela posteriormente, y quizás la explicación menos popular, y que es algo critico para entender el porqué en primer lugar Dios permite sufrimiento…

2 Corintios Capitulo 1 Versos 4-7

• Muchos le preguntamos a Dios, “Porque” Honestamente todos lo hacemos. Todos y cada uno de nosotros. Porque está pasando esto Dios, porque ahora, ¿porque yo? podría ser o probablemente es, que por lo que estas pasando no es únicamente por ti primeramente, o talvez no es por ti para nada, …pero quizás es que estas siendo equipado para server a alguien más.
• ¿Has encontrado alguna vez un producto o servicio que tan fantástico que quieres compartirlo? Como vinagre de manzana…de que estoy hablando? Eso es HORRIBLE! Quiero decir buenísimo para tu salud física pero nunca volveré a tomar ese jugo otra vez, es el diablo. JA! Pero como un buen mecánico, o un buen restaurant…o un doctor maravilloso, o quizás un café que una sola taza te Cambia la Vida y bendice tu alma como el café que te sirven en Legends?! Y esto es a un grado de nivel bajo, con el punto que quiero hacer de como Dios Consuela a Sus hijos.
• Las tribulaciones son duras, …duras no es la palabra… son reales, y son difíciles, los sufrimientos de Cristo de los que Pablo habla…no la Cruz, pero los dolores de la vida en un mundo caído, el planeta tierra… y conforme estos sufrimientos permanecen Pablo dice que la consolación de Dios a través de Cristo Jesús también permanece. La palabra significa excede la medida…rebosa, … cascadas…y el trabajo que Dios ara, y quiere hacer en términos de amarte, cuidarte, darte seguridad y consolarte, y con tan solo un poco de fe, (porque eso es todo lo que pide), glorificaras a Dios con ello, a pesar de que El nunca te saque de eso…y esa Gloria sobre Dios bendecirá y servirá a otros.
• Pablo dice, aunque me hayan lastimado, y a pesar de que Éfeso me hizo daño, básicamente a todos lugares donde voy aparentemente torna terrible, la comodidad y el Consuelo que recibo de mi caminar con el Señor lo abruma todo y el corazón de Pablo se regocija. ¿Porque Dios? Aquí está la respuesta, esto es por qué… el que tu conozcas mejor Su amor por ti un poco más… tu no vienes a la Fuente a menos que tengas sed, tú necesitas descanso a menos que estés cansado, muchas veces tu no oras a menos que estés preocupado o tienes temor. (y yo a menudo soy culpable de eso)…
• Jesús sabe esto de ante mano, Dios te comprende de antemano que al final si dejas de pensar solo en ti mismo viene la victoria…y la tribulación, las dificultades, el sufrimiento, tu aflicción, … provocara la gloria de Dios sobre esta tierra si todo esto lo navegas con Fe. Esta tierra necesita tanto la presencia d Dios…la Cruz de Cristo estuvo levantada completamente desconocida por la naturaleza humana…y aun así esa gran ola alcanzo hasta la Eternidad…y también esa tribulación por la que tu estas pasando si confías en Dios con ella.
